Things we need
Donations
There will be details on line shortly about how you can contribute to the work that is going on in Malawi. It has to be a Malawi account so watch this space.
Wish List
- Mobile phones- communication systems still rely on sending messengers usually a small child to run miles to deliver a note.
- Sewing machine- along with many other ideas I hope to set up small businesses Sewing machines will provide women with a income as I will buy in some material and employ someone from back in my village to teach them bag and clothes designs to sell to tourists, and basic tailoring for travellers worn out garments. Hand made papermaking Soap making
- Projector-I wish to show films on a weekly basis, from cartoons for the kids to documentaries for education and entertaining blockbusters
- Sport equipment- I believe all children should be able to kick a football about not have to blow up condoms or wrap plastic bags up. Also setting up local teams and clubs will need some equipment for practice and matches Popular sports are football and volleyball
- School Equipment-Anything can be used in Malawi, as there is nothing. Even pens as its heart breaking to watch kids in an exam shaking their pens to drain a bit of ink out. It would be wonderful to set up a small library on out site that is open to everybody to visit and borrow books.
- Games and toys Snorkels- living on a crystal clear lake with beautiful fish in their natural habitat is a joy to see. A dive school that no one who lives in the bay could ever afford is a constant reminder of the unreachable, but simple snorkels would reveal an underwater world Any other water toys-one thing there is no shortage of in Malawi is lake water
-
Nursery set up-A small nursery for 100 children to have 5 days a week education and tea and poridge can cost up to £600 to set up.This cost covers all the utensils, kitchen building, bowls, cups etc. This also allows mothers to have the oppurtunity to find work as well as providing four jobs for locals as teachers or cooks.Every morning the children will be fed and have games and lessons. All this costs £40 a month to sustain.

Small donation for the setting up of youth drama club, props and transport money to perfrom and educate local villages.I know of one group who tour teaching children of the risks of HIV.
-
-
Sponsoring a girl’s football team-which allows great oppurtunities to travel to local areas and meet other women from the community. Many girls leave school early to start families and the passion for football has already inspired alternative thought.Unfortunatley they all play bare footed and have to rely on the men’s team to lend a ball for practice.
-
-
Library books- We already have a library at butterfly which is free for anyone to borrow books but it could always do with more substance particualry children’s books for learning english.
-
-
Seed bank initiative- this allows local farmers to educate people on different ideas of nutrition and a place to swop seeds or and recipes for new meals. We will have demonstation gardens on site with an employed gardener who is informed and willing to exchange ideas.

-
Suncream project-Alice Leaper has been working on making a documentary on african albinos who suffer terrible burns and wounds from the sun. Donations of suncream, hats and long clothes are desperately needed.
-
-
Container payment- I have already been donated many things from sewing machines to school desks and chairs. Unfortunately I have a limit of what I can carry back so if it can all be stored and then shipped out this would be a great help.

Musical Instruments-There is a strong vibe of musical talent in Nkhata bay that needs the equipment to be practised
